Struffoli - Honey Balls
Our grandmother used to make these honey
balls for years. We traditionally make
them for Christmas.
- 2 c flour
- 4 t baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 ½ c sugar
- 2 T shortening
- 6 eggs
- 4 ozs. honey 2 T vegetable oil
Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix with sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time until well incorporated. Roll into finger size ropes and cut into ¼ inch pieces. Fry until light brown and cool in a colander . Cook honey in 2 T vegetable until it comes to a boil, remove from heat and drizzle over balls in colander. Mix and add seasonal colored balls. Enjoy!
