Fryed Oysters

Oysters are truly delicious fried and served hot.  We just love them!

  • 1 ½ c flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 c milk
  • 1 ½ pints shucked fresh oysters, drained (reserve liquid)

Line a platter with paper towel and set aside.

Heat oil in electric skillet set to 370 degrees.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt and pepper and baking powder.  Stir in the milk and 1/3 c reserved liquid.  Fold in oysters.  Drop oysters, a few at a time into the heated oil and fry until brown on both sides.  Place fried oysters on the prepared platter.  Continue until all oysters are fried.  Serve with tartar sauce.
