Popcorn Balls

Looking for something to do with the family?  Why not make popcorn balls?

  • 5 quarts popped corn
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 ½ c water
  • ½ corn syrup
  • 1/3 t salt
  • 1/3 t vinegar
  • 1 T vanilla

Place the popped corn in a large bowl, greased with butter and set aside.

Line a baking sheet with waxed paper and set aside.

Place the sugar, water and corn syrup in a large pan mix only to combine with a wood spoon. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until a candy thermometer reaches 260 degrees.  Add the remaining ingredients and continue to boil to 264 degrees.   Remove from heat and pour over the popped corn, mixing to coat the popped corn.  Quickly form into balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.

To store, place in large zip bags or wrap individually.
