Onion Rings

Onions rings are great along side fish or hamburger.  Sometimes we serve them as an appetizer on their own.

  • 3 large sweet onions, cut into
  • ¼ inch slices
  • ½ c flour
  • ¾ t salt
  • 1/8 t pepper
  • ½ t baking powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ c milk canola oil

Line a platter with paper towels and set aside.

Fill skillet with canola oil at least two inches deep and heat to 365 degrees.

Separate onion rings.   Place the flour, seasonings, and baking powder in a small bowl.  Whisk together egg and milk and mix with dry ingredients.

Dip onion rings into batter, then into heated skillet.  Fry until golden brown, turning to brown both sides.   Place on prepared platter to drain and sprinkle with salt.
