Apple Cobbler

Apple cobbler smells incredible when baking!  When we pick apples in September and October, this recipe is always on the menu, however it is great in the summer after a barbecue.   Easy and delicious - can be made with other fruit as an alternative.

  • 8 apples, I combine a couple different kinds, such as McCowan, Granny Smith and Cortland
  • ¼ c sugar
  • 1 T Flour
  • 2 t cinnamon
  • 1 c Flour
  • 1 T Baking powder
  • ¼ c sugar
  • 1 stick cold butter
  • 1 c cold heavy cream
  • 2 t salt

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a 8” X 8” baking pan with butter and set aside.

Peel and slice the apples and stir in ½ c sugar, cinnamon and 1 T flour.   Place the apples in the prepared pan and bake for twenty minutes .

Place the remaining flour, salt, baking powder and sugar into a large bowl.   With a pastry cutter, incorporate the butter into the flour.  Use your fingers to mix until small pea-size pieces form.  Add the heavy cream and stir until it comes together.  Don’t over mix.

Remove the pan from the oven and turn it up to 400 degrees.   Drop the biscuits by the scoopful onto the baked apples.   Sprinkling with and bake until the biscuits are golden brown – roughly fifteen to twenty minutes.

Top with fresh whipped cream or a nice dollop of vanilla ice cream.
