Vanilla Cake


When we were young, all cakes were homemade.  This is a simple vanilla cake – perfect for a family gathering.
 
  • 1 c butter
  • 2 c sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 3 c cake flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 c milk
Grease two 9” cake pans and set aside.
 
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
 
Place the butter and sugar in a large bowl and beat until incorporated.   Beat in eggs one at a time and then the vanilla
 
Place the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and whisk together.   Starting with the flour mixture, sprinkle a little of the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.   End with flour mixture.  
 
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for half a hour.   Cool on a wire rack.  When completely cooled, remove from the pans.
 
Frost with vanilla frosting and enjoy.
